Fit For A King just released their 3rd studio album Deathgrip with record label Solid State Records, and it is absolutely brutal from start to finish. Lyrically and musically, it’s darker than their previous albums while maintaining a similar sound to their previous album Slave to Nothing.
In a video posted to Solid State Records’ YouTube account, Ryan Kirby (vocals) says, “We were in Germany when ISIS attacked the Bataclan and we played Paris like four days later so that was a huge inspiration for the whole theme of the record. Death never felt closer than it really ever had.” Bobby Lynge (guitarist) went on to say, “This new album really brought us together. [We] became really close. We got to know each other really, really, really well and I think we understand each other musically a little better now.”
With 11 songs on Deathgrip, Fit For A King asked Jake Luhrs from August Burns Red to do guest vocals on their song “Dead Memory”. Levi Benton of Miss May I was also featured on the song “Stacking Bodies” toward the end of the album.
Deathgrip is phenomenal, start to finish, and is another excellent chapter in Fit For A King’s history. Fit For A King is currently touring in the US with Beartooth, Every Time I Die, and Old Wounds. Fit For A King made sure to keep performing live in their minds when they made Deathgrip so you’ll definitely want to see them in person.
Deathgrip by Fit For A King is now available on iTunes. Make sure to go see them in a city near you!
