The first 2 weeks of my China adventures are over and I am now on my own. Half way across the world. With no cell phone plan. Surrounded by people who speak a foreign language. It would be an understatement to say that I'm excited.
For those of you that don't know, I volunteered at an arts camp in Shanghai, China for the last 2 weeks (more on that in the future). While the rest of my wonderful team returned to Los Angeles, I chose to stay in China for an extra 12 days, wandering the country and taking as many pictures as possible.
The last 24 hours has been relaxing, thrilling, and emotionally exhausting. I had the opportunity to experience a glimpse of downtown Shanghai, ride a levitating magnetic train, go shopping, and have some seriously deep conversations. The laughter was bountiful with a few tears sprinkled in. I've been surrounded by 10 fantastic humans for the last 2 weeks and now I will venture off into the world on my own. Its only been a few hours since you've left, but I miss you all so much.
I'm taking a bullet train to Beijing in the morning where I'll be visiting the Great Wall of China, The Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square over the course of a few days. Oh it shall be a glorious adventure indeed. Here's a few pics from the last day or so... Pardon the weirdness.
"It is absolutely clear that God has called you to a free life. Just make sure that you don't use this freedom as an excuse to do whatever you want to do and destroy your freedom. Rather, use your freedom to serve one another in love' that's how freedom grows. For everything we know about God's Word is summed up in a single sentence: Love others as you love yourself. That's an act of true freedom. If you bite and ravage each other, watch out - in no time at all you will be annihilating each other, and where will your precious freedom be then?"
