Lamb Of God - "Ghost Walking" (Live from House of Vans Chicago)
Nothing says Happy Valentines Day like Lamb of God filming a live music video at a free concert. On February 14, 2020, Lamb of God released new video for their 2011 track “Ghost Walking” at the House of Vans in Chicago. The haze and the backlit blue glow of the stage lighting set an intense mood for the audience. Sick blast beats, juicy riffs, and epic drum fills kept the energy high for the remainder of the song. The packed crowd was going wild during the show by starting mosh pits, crowd surfing, and shredding their air guitars during Lamb of God’s brutal solos. As the song came to an end, the crowd roared with enthusiasm, not realizing that all concerts would be postponed indefinitely due to COVID-19.
The first thing I noticed while watching the video was that the legendary American metal band was missing their long time drummer, Chris Adler. After parting ways with Adler in July of 2019, Lamb of God announced that Art Cruz, the drummer of Winds of Plague, would be replacing Adler as a permanent member. That being said, after watching the live video, Cruz has the drumming chops to play Adler’s complex parts while maintaining Lamb of God’s vicious sound. The new single “Checkmate,” which debuted in February 2020 is the first song to feature Art Cruz.
While I enjoyed seeing a live concert from Lamb of God, I would have preferred to see a live video of one of their new songs. “Ghost Walking” was the third track off of their 2012 album Resolution which makes me question why they chose to film this song in particular. With COVID-19 destroying all of my hopes and dreams of seeing Lamb of God live, I will have to settle by binge listening to their 3 new songs, “New Colossal Hate, Memento Mori, and Checkmate.” Lamb of God’s new self titled album is dropping on June 19, 2020 so you can expect to see an album review by yours truly in the near future.
Along with the live music video for “Ghost Walking,” Lamb of God released a beer named Ghost Walker. Made by the company BrewDog, this beer contains a surprisingly low alcohol percentage of 0.5% to keep your hangover at bay. This bold flavored IPA will be shipping out in late May.
